british upscale appliances

A study released on december 12 about the reliability of appliances made in britain came to the same conclusion as that of another study earlier by a us based consumers union.
an expensive made appliance dosen't always mean it was more reliable when compaired to a less expensive one,in fact the london based warranty direct found greater failure rates among british appliances than the consumers union found amoung their us sold counterparts.
Many upscale british appliance brands were found much less reliable than cheaper brands,
warranty direct spokesman Duncan McClure-Fisher told the London Daily Telegraph.
The upscale Smeg freezers selling for 3,000 pounds, about (us$6,900)were found to have 13 percent expectation of failure during the first year of use, compared to a 2 percent failure rate for zanussi and beko freezers selling for 650 pounds (us$1,495)
upscale hoover dryers had a 20 percent breakdown rate compared to 7 percent for less expensive white knight and creda dryers.
One upscale brand of washers were found to have about 50 percent expectation failure rate for the first year, these failures can be expensive, the average repair for a washing machine in britain is about 130 pounds,(us$300).
